What about Bob?

I grew up with a gospel singing mother who had a big influence on me. When I was about ten years old she bought a guitar for herself, but found she couldn't play it due to a childhood tragedy - when she was four years old she lost half of her finger in a lawn mower accident and since then her hand was just too sensitive for any attempt at chord strumming. Hence, the guitar started gathering dust and that was when I picked it up and started playing it myself. Since that day my mom has always encouraged me with my music.

Growing up I listened to Johnny Cash, Cat Stevens, John Michael Talbot and other acoustic artists. I suppose I developed some of my style from them, but the one thing I knew for sure was that the message of God's love would have to be an integral part of my music.

Living in Costa Rica some time back, I learned to speak and sing in spanish at a children's home in the mountains where I lived and worked for four years. It was a rustic, beautiful season in my life where I was inspired to write songs and was able to spend many days holding kids in need.

My favorite hobby is surfing and a little over a year ago I surfed the waves of my life in Indonesia. I currently have songs on the radio in California, Texas, North Carolina, and Hawaii. The Lord is gracious and good and I'm learning to be thankful for the opportunities that He gives me to share music and live life abundantly.
