Well it's the end of an era, well not the end, just a break. As you
all know Gareth is off to New Zealand + Australia for 6-8 months or
so. We have toyed with the idea of playing on while he is away but I
think we're going to have a break and wait for his return. I must stress
that we are not splitting up and this is not the end of Second In Line.
We will be back when Gareth returns - that's definite. I will be playing
in a new project - all details will be released soon, we have some shows
booked - a couple of warm up shows, but our official band launch date
is May 15th. The website is being worked on and I'll announce that on
here soon too. So that leaves me just to say thanks to all of you who
came and saw us, the people that put us on, the other bands, all the
great friends we've made along the way as well. We'll see you all in
2005 for more Second In Line action!

We've just finished our weekend jaunt with Junk Culture and that was
one helluva lotta fun. Kidderminster on Friday wasn't too shabby and
Swindon on Sunday was ok cause we got some free bowling. But the Newbury
once again was awesome, somehow we managed to play 9 songs and it took
us nearly an hour with the kids. There was wall of deaths, skateboarding
(skating off th stage over people!), monkey dancing competitions and
lots of drunken amusement. The worst bit for me was when I jumped off
the stage (which is about 3ft high) during the last song and as I landed
both my feet just slipped away from me and I landed right on my back,
so I just laid there playing the song! Still a great weekend, thanks
to Junk Culture + everyone who helped out.

We have the most part of this month off to work on new material as we
have a bundle of shows booked in for March and the small 4 day janut
with those rogues Junk Culture. I know we don't write in here enough,
sorry about that - blame the other 3 they haven't made 1 entry! Anyways
we might be a 5 piece soon, we'll keep ya all informed. Take it easy.

So that's the end of Second In Line's 2003 and we did indeed have a
damn cool year. We played with so many great bands this year, made loads
of new friends and played some awesome venues. We're still chuffed we
played the Forum with Conflict and Anti Flag, that show will take some
beating, but we also love going to Manchester, it's a good laugh up
there. It's been a decent year though, we're finally heading into the
studio next year to record and there has been talk of tours in UK and
also Europe for next year, but we'll see how we go, we're going to be
spending the first couple of months working on new songs and getting
the record out (whether it be an album or e.p) and ensuring it's mixed
and produced right. But once that's done we're going to try and play
shows all over, we don't have many booked right now, so do e-mail
us if you can put us on. Have a good festive season. Drink copious amounts.
Cheers.

That weekend rocked, the support in Oxford with Farse was cool, we played
ok considering Alex hadn't had much time with us (maybe 3 hours) and
Sunday in Manchester was amazing. Bliss and Zero Pretties were both
awesome and we had such a fun night, one of the best nights we've had
in SIL. So thanks you Mancunians! Alex is fitting in nicely and we're
gonna be kicking it in London soon. Cheers.

We've played the last couple of shows as a three piece and they have
gond really well. Alex will be making his live debut soon, but for now
we will continue as three until the time comes for Alex to rock with
us. It's better as 4 as we get a rockier sound with the two guitars.
We're in Oxford and Manchester this weekend, which will be damn cool
so I hope we'll see some of you at the shows.

Well that went surprisingly well last night with Gareth and myself playing
a set. I went on acoustic and Gareth just played a clean electric. We'd
never tried it before and it went better than we imagined. Cheers to
The Stats for supporting us, and they did a great job on their first
gig. And cheers to Jonny Glueball for giving us heckles and for the
chicken burger, was a damn tasty treat.

Last night in Kidderminster was quality. Great show, great night. We
ended up headlining and can't wait to go back next month. Also, we made
it back to the dodgy take away that's dirt cheap but damn tasty and
once again had chip fights. Don't ask. I'll try and get some of the
other lads to write an entry on here soon as well.

Yesterday's show was awesome - we played the Forum in London, massive
venue and had a great time. Thanks to Colin from Conflict for putting
us on and it was cool to meet Anti Flag and Blaggers. The venue was
huge and we've got to now face the reality of playing the pub gigs again.
We've had a bite of the apple as they say and now we want more of the
massive shows. I think we played reasonable, we've been better in my
opinion but we had a few people dancing and that was cool. Nice to see
the Shrewsbury crew made it down and put in a sterling effort for us
on the dancefloor. There were people there taking photos and reviewing
the show (we know Terrorizer mag was one of them) so I expect we'll
be slated in there in the future if they can be bothered to put us on
the review.
Anyways, this band diary is a new feature and we'll try and write stuff
in it every now and then, I hope I won't be the only one doing it and
the other lads will get involved too. The bad news is today we've had
major website problems and lost around 8 months worth of updates to
every single page. This majorly sucks and it's gonna never recover as
we can never recall the links we've added, fanzone names and everything
like that - it's a major downer after such a high yesterday. The next
gig is a small pub in Kidderminster. We've played there before and it's
a good laugh up there - hell we're going back another two times this
year after Thursday and if we didn't like it we wouldn't bother I can
tell you. Should be a damn good laugh with our mates The Penitraitors.
OK, take it easy everyone.
