KF is the national mapping authority of the Republic of Foldmuves, but it is not a government agency. It is a private cartography and surveying firm - one of the largest on Aurora. KF produces not only maps of the Republic, but also a definitive atlas of the whole of Aurora.

KF products are sold at bookstalls, post offices, and many government buildings' general-goods shops. They also produce maps for commercial customers and other governments worldwide. KF surveyors typically have passports with more destination stamps than those of Republic diplomats -- they're always travelling to survey this border or view that public works change.

KF navigational charts are produced in conjunction with Coast Guard naval surveyors. One edition is printed for the government with any sensitive naval info on it. A civilian edition has 98% of the same data - enough to make them a preferred supplier for merchant marine navigators the world over.
