[Tech] info about Foldmuves - i.e. out-of-character discussion *about* the game & the nation
language -- Foldmuves' (Mhordat) and neighboring Szerelo's (Chagasz) languages are based loosely on
Czech, Slovak, and Hungarian --
any "mistakes" an actual reader of those tongues notes is just the Auroran Mhordat
grammar and spelling at work. There's few diacritics used in my version, though Foldmuvesan Mhordat retains a few more than Szereloi Chagasz. There's more like a dozen or two
different "accent marks" (really, they're *pronunciation* marks) in those earthly
languages. Those look cool and aid in exact pronunciation, but they also confuse
people who aren't used to them and particularly whose browsers aren't used to
them. If you see *really* funny stuff in my pages or messages, you really ought to load
and use the eastern-european font sets, or some other extended-character set. I'm not the only ImagiNation
player who dabbles in obscure fontology.
Want Ads (things that I need some Auroran nations or other to have, so Foldmuves can
participate in, buy, sell, or report upon) (please place similar wishes, druthers, and
needs on your own nation's pages somewhere)
- historical linkages - see the Foldmuves history page - it had to read almost
like we were the only nation on the planet, since there weren't many nations when I wrote it. If
you want your people to have been involved with mine in the past - good, bad, or indifferent -
just propose joint history items. I'll write mine, you write yours, and we'll coordinate to
get something that meshes.
- customers for our exports (long list - see "Foldmuves Business")
- suppliers for a Long List of commodities - someone was going to publish such a list. If it
doesn't show up soon, I will. Strategic minerals, important manufactured goods, and the like.
- international sports leagues - horseback racing, motorcycle racing, soccer, track & field
- tea. *somebody's* gotta have tea. we don't.
- tourists to enjoy the Nyugati Island resorts
- destinations for international air routes and sea transport
- participants in one or more of "the four different international postal exchanges" -
see the Foldmuves Post page. I need to know when outgoing mail from Foldmuves needs your
postage as well as mine. If you don't want that complexity, just say your nation
participates in all four.
- neighbors. well, duuuuh. Foldmuves' land borders are tidily occupied,
but having more nearby trading partners will be nice
Borders -- I refuse to use geometrically exact hexagonal borders - I don't mind if
you do :-), I just want my maps to look plausible. Any neighbors or potential neighbors
- I'll happily provide base maps with my wiggly lines for you to match with. For
simulation purposes of course, my nation behaves just as though the borders were hexes
as marked on the official Aurora political maps.
Missing info -- There's no factsheet page yet for Foldmuves, and there's other obvious
info still missing. I'm leaving some of that until there's more Aurora background agreed
upon, and until we have more neighbors.
