Modeling a Woman's Dress Shoe in Wings 3d
Download Wings 3D
Introduction

This walk-through of modeling a shoe in Wings is anecdotal and is intended to demonstrate some collected techniques, at a medium level of expertise. The emphasis is on a step-by-step record of the process with an accounting of the addition and manipulation of each new element in turn. There is exposure to a range of tools, from basic to advanced, but it is not a comprehensive treatment. Rather, it observes how a subset of tools can support an economical approach when modeling an actual subject. Some familiarity with the basics of the Wings interface, its terminology, and the advanced menus is assumed.

Notes
The tutorial makes use of elevation and plan shots of a shoe for reference.
This is an excellent work flow for practicing some of the different selection techniques available in Wings. In particular:
Edge Ring select - "G" on the keyboard
Grow Edge Ring select - "ALT" + "G"
  Edge Loop select - "L"
Grow Edge Loop select - "ALT" + "L"
Selecting an element in one mode, say Face Mode then switching to another mode, say Vertex Mode, to highlight a desired set of Vertices.
Wings uses "CNTL"+"ALT"+"Z" to Undo actions.
This tutorial uses the Slide tool, available since version 0.98.22c, and found on the Edge mode context menu.
