• William (6 Jan 1747/8 Ayrshire, Scotland-31 Jan 1832 Warm Springs, Buncombe Co., NC) - He married Jane Lewis (26 Nov 1752-26 Aug 1816 NC). They had 15 children: Elizabeth, Elizabeth, Robert, Patrick, William, Anne, Hugh Douglas, Katherine, Charles Binns, Sara Lewis, Thomas Lewis, Archibald Douglas, Nancy Ann, Mary Louisa, and Jane Harriet.

Hugh Douglas Neilson & Sarah Heale

Hugh was born 1762 in Ayrshire, Scotland and died 9 Aug 1813 in Greene Co., Tennessee. He immigrated to Loundoun Co., Virginia about 1771. Hugh moved to Greene Co., Tennessee sometime after 1781. He was one of the first presidential electors from the State of Tennessee.

Hugh married Sarah Heale in 1781. Sarah was born 19 Oct 1762 in Fauquier Co., Virginia and died 14 Aug 1818 in Greene Co., Tennessee. Sarah is the daughter of George Heale and Sarah Smith.

Joseph Hale Neilson & Mary Smith

Joseph was born 10 Dec 1792 in Greene Co., Tennessee and died Dec 1845 in Somerville, Fayette Co., Tennessee. He was a soldier in the War of 1812.

Joseph married Mary Smith on 26 Nov 1812. Mary, called Polly, was born in Virginia and died 1863 in Hardeman Co., Tennessee. She is the daughter of Coleman Smith and Tabitha Hatcher.

• William Smith (11 Sep 1813 Greene Co., TN-18 Mar 1892 Oxford, Lafayette Co., MS) - He married Mary Caroline Bowln (8 Oct 1826 Hickman Co., TN-29 Nov 1903 Oxford) on 14 Apr 1846. They had 12 children: Charles Bowen, Mary Evelyn, Ella Narcissa, William, Anna Louise, Hugh Douglas, Joseph Edwin, Francis Alexander, Linda Mahulda, William Bolivar, Ada Josephine, and Halbert Hale.
