Welcome to the R/C Backyard, hope you enjoy your stay...

(R/C) is radio-controlled adj : operated and guided by radio; "a radio-controlled airplane, car, truck, boat, motorcycle, tank, and other vehicles that are scaled down to operate by means of transmitter and receiver."
1. control of the operation or performance of an apparatus from a distance, as the control of a guided missile by radio signals.
2. Also called remote. a device used to control the operation of an apparatus or machine, as a television set, from a distance.

So, as you can see, we are talking about wireless control of a vehicle from a distance. R/C Cars and Trucks, are a good way to have fun while learning some basic electronics, as well as mechanical skills. But don't let the electronics or mechanics scare you from the hobby! It is not as complicated as you might think. You get to build a vehicle with step by step instructions that is rarely harder than building a plastic stationary model. Build it the way you want, and have it be a speed demon or be a intricate detailed fully functional show piece. Check out the other pages on the site and if you have any questions...

Associated RC10T3

Here is my favorite type of RC vehicle. It is a Associated RC10T3 stadium team racing truck.

If you've decided that you'd like to get started in the R/C hobby, the first thing you'll need to do is pick the type of vehicle that best suits your interests and budget.
There are many R/C kits from which to choose from, cars, trucks, tanks, airplanes, gliders, boats, snowmobiles, submarines, motorcycles, surfers, and quad runners, just to name a few. Are you going all out to race or just do some bashing in the in the backyard or cruise on your driveway? Is your first R/C going to be electric or nitro powered? To help you consider what type of R/C vehicle to use, you should look at the surroundings of your neighborhood or where you might play. If it is smooth with a few parking lots that are unused at times. You might consider an on road vehicle. If it is more dirt or grass or even a little rocky, maybe you should look into a off road vehicle for your first choice. Whether it is on-road or off-road, nitro or electric, you still have to decide if you would like 2WD(two wheel drive) or 4WD(four wheel drive).

The Internet Traffic Report monitors the flow of data around the world. It then displays a value between zero and 100. Higher values indicate faster and more reliable connections.
