-
When
entering or leaving the dojo, and when getting on and off the mat,
perform a brief standing bow.
-
At
the beginning and end of each class all students form a neat seated
line at the end of the mat, with any Dan grades in front, facing the
teacher. All then bow to the head of the dojo, and then the teacher
and students bow to each other.
-
When
practicing with a partner, perform a seated or standing bow at the
beginning and end of the practice session.
-
Remove
(or tape-up) any jewellery, and tie back long hair before practice.
Also keep finger and toenails short.
-
Address
the class teacher as "Sensei" (teacher) when on the mat
-
When
the Sensei claps or shouts "Stop", immediately stop
practicing and move quickly to the edge of the mat
-
Always
be alert and aware of what is happening around you, and maintain respect
for your partner.
