Second Dan Syllabus

1. Classical Aikido (shiho-nage to yonkyo and kokyu-nage projections)
Ten techniques will be required by the examiners, to be chosen by the candidate
Use any of the six basic escape routesUse a variety of attacks from the attack list
Use shape 5

2. Applied Aikido...emphasising short sharp powerful techniques
Ten techniques will be required by the examiners, to be chosen by the candidate
Only one escape must be used for each techniqueUse a variety of attacks from the attack list

3. Applied Tanto techniques
Ten techniques will be required by the examiners
Candidate has free choice of escapes and techniques
The techniques must be built around a variety of different attacks

4. Atemi - Striking techniques
Ten techniques will be required by the examiners
Candidate has free choice of escapes and techniques Attacks to be chosen from the attack list
Techniques must take less than 2 seconds

5. Baton techniques
Ten techniques will be required by the examiners
Candidate has free choice of escapes and techniques
The techniques can have one or two escape routes

7. Bokken Techniques
Five techniques will be required by the examiners
Candidate has free choice of escapes and techniques
The techniques can have one or two escape routes

8. Jo Techniques
Five techniques will be required by the examiners
Candidate has free choice of escapes and techniques
The techniques can have one or two escape routes

10. Tai gei development
Candidate will develop an original tai gei in advance
The tai gei must contain six techniques, with two attackers being thrown three times each
No techniques should be used more than once
The examination will require the tai gei to be performed once slowly and then again at full speed

11. Multiple Attack
Five ukes will attack continuously, using any attack, for 30 seconds
